| Tanglin TMC, founded in 1999, is one of 9,300+ Toastmaster clubs
in the world. Headquartered in California, Toastmasters International
is now active in some 80 countries and includes clubs using a variety
of languages, including Mandarin Chinese, Malay and Tamil.
Until recently, Tanglin TMC was in District 51, which included
clubs in Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei and Malaysia
as well as Singapore. This very successful district was proclaimed
the top district in the world based on membership growth and the
educational achievements of its members, among other criteria, several
years in a row. In addition, District 51 saw phenomenal growth,
leading it to be largest district in the world. As of July 1st,
2004, District 51 was split with Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau and
Singapore forming the new District 80. We look forward to continued
success in our new District.
Tanglin TMC is itself a highly successful, friendly club. Over
the last few years, we have consistently achieved Distinguished
status.
Our Goal: To help each member improve
their public speaking, listening and leadership skills.
How We Do it: Toastmasters is not a
course. Rather, we are a group of friendly people who, in a mutually
supportive and positive learning environment, help each other by
providing opportunities to speak followed by constructive suggestions
for improvement.
Why is This Important? Many people are
afraid of speaking in public. In many jobs, being able to make presentations,
give sales pitches and provide information are vital skills. Join
us and improve your career prospects, self-confidence and personal
growth.

About Toastmasters International: Toastmasters
International is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of
Directors elected by the membership. The first Toastmasters club
was established on October 22, 1924, in Santa Ana, California, by
Dr. Ralph C. Smedley, who conceived and developed the idea of helping
others to speak more effectively. More clubs were formed, and Toastmasters
International was incorporated under California law on December
19, 1932. Toastmasters International's business and services are
administered by its World Headquarters, located in Rancho Santa
Margarita, California. It employs no paid promoters or instructors.
It has no salaried staff except the Executive Director and World
Headquarters staff, who provide services to the clubs and districts.
